We’re glad to have you as part of the UNH and Seacoast community. We are a community that cares about the area in which we live and cares for the people who live here.
1. Get to know your neighbors. Introduce yourself and participate in your neighborhood association.
2. Trash can include anything from discarded furniture and appliances, to car parts and other junk, in addition to daily refuse. If your trash is everywhere, your neighbors might have a problem and could complain to the city/town.
3. If you are living in a house, maintain your yard, mow your grass (if you have any!), and trim your shrubs/trees.
4. Barking dogs next door can be a source of conflict. Be aware of your pet’s effect on others. Also, clean up after your pets.
5. Park your car(s) in designated areas on the street or in your driveway/garage.
Planning A Get Together?
6. Let your neighbors know when you are planning a get together and find out
their concerns. Give them your phone number so they can call you (before they
call the police) if it gets too loud.
7. If alcohol is present, make sure everyone is 21 or older. Serve food and make non-alcoholic drinks available. If people under 21 are present and drinking, you may be held responsible, guilty of a misdemeanor, and brought to jail.
8. Periodically go outside and monitor how loud it is. You may want a people over, but the folks next door might want a quiet evening at home. Noise ordinances go into effect by 10pm on a weeknight and 11pm on the weekend (in many communities – check with your community before hand so you know).
9. Discourage guests and friends from wandering away from your apartment/house.
10. Clean up any mess after your get together and generally maintain your property.
