The Leadership Certificate
Program is divided into 4 levels. Each level has specific requirements that
must be completed in order to earn a leadership certificate for that level. Each
requirement is designed to assist the certificate student achieve one or more
competencies of the program. The number
of levels that can be completed in an academic year is determined by each
student individually.
LEVEL 1:
- Attend
a Project LEAD Certificate Orientation meeting with the Leadership
Coordinator (made by appointment only).
- Complete
ONE Leadership Education program.
- Complete
FOUR Leadership Training programs.
- Participate
in ONE Leadership Development experience.
- Participate
in THREE different local volunteer experiences which total at least 15
hours of community service.
- Attend
TWO multicultural programs sponsored by campus offices or student
organizations.
LEVEL 2:
- Complete
TWO Leadership Education programs.
- Complete
FOUR Leadership Training programs.
- Participate
in ONE Leadership Development experience.
- Participate
in a semester-long service learning project (must have prior approval from
the Leadership Coordinator).
- Attend
THREE multicultural programs sponsored by campus offices or student
organizations.
LEVEL 3:
- Develop
and facilitate a Project LEAD Leadership Workshop (see Leadership
Coordinator for guidance).
- Develop
and execute a community service project for the campus and/or surrounding
community.
- Compose
a 3-5 page reflection paper defining what leadership means to you as well
as detailing your leadership experiences and how you will use what you
have learned.
- Attend
FOUR multicultural programs sponsored by campus offices or student
organizations.
LEVEL 4:
- Complete
a Capstone Project and present the project at the annual Leadership
Dessert Reception (The goal is for students
to apply the skills and competencies they have acquired to leadership
issues in an organizational/professional setting).
- Participate
in a major regional/national leadership conference or workshop.
Other Requirements:
- Attend
TWO meetings with other Leadership Certificate Students each semester.
- Attend
TWO meetings with your Leadership Coach each semester.
- Update
your personal electronic Leadership Portfolio after each involvement.
