Type of Involvement

Leadership
Education programs focus on the study of
leadership theory. Examples could include programs such
as Emerging Leaders, LeaderShape, MLK Summit, Read to Lead,
and Transforming Leaders. |

Leadership
Training programs are one-time experiences
that help leaders sharpen specific skills. Examples could
include participation in any of the Leadership Workshop
Series offerings, Lessons in Leadership, or attending other
related lectures. |

Leadership
Development is the infusion of leadership
education and training with experience. Time must be dedicated
to specific leadership experiences in which participants
are able to apply the knowledge and skills theyve
learned to real life situations and prepare for future roles.
Examples could include internships, jobs, participation
in Student Senate, serving as a Resident Assistant or Peer
Educator, etc. |

Community
Service
includes participation in an approved service project geared
toward fostering a lifelong commitment to service and volunteerism. |

Multi-Cultural
programs focus on the promotion, acknowledgement and celebration of different cultural values, beliefs, ideas and attitudes. Examples could include events sponsored by OMSA, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, (lunch discussions, films, speakers, SAFE ZONES training, etc.), or student organization/other campus office sponsored events (Latino Heritage Luncheon, MLK Jr. events, Cultural Connections, etc.) |
